We were happy to see Joomla 1.6 now has an option for including the sitename in page titles. Unfortunately, some folks believe the sitename should appear last and the new Global Configuration item doesn't provide this as an option.

But even more problematical, is that each component installed must check this global option and do the right thing. I won't be surprised if 3pds will forget or not notice this little detail. That's how I discovered this problem - writing a custom component for a client.

This plugin gives you the option to place the sitename before or after the main page title and select the separator string to use. Be sure to turn OFF the Global configuration option though!!

A client wanted to exclude some articles from Joomla search. I made a copy of the standard search plugin and added a couple new parameters. If you use this, be sure to disable the standard content search plugin as this fully duplicates its work.

The new parameters are:

  • Exclude articles based on selected categories.
  • Display warning if the standard Joomla plugin is enabled

This plugin could evolve if additional ideas for customization are requested.
